Overview

Clipwise AI is a browser extension that converts webpages to Markdown format. Your privacy is important to us, and this policy explains how the extension handles your data.

Data Collection

Clipwise AI does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data.

All webpage content processing happens entirely within your browser. No data is sent to external servers, and we have no ability to access, view, or store any content you convert.

How the Extension Works

When you click the Clipwise AI extension icon:

  1. The extension reads the HTML content of the current webpage
  2. Content is processed locally using Mozilla Readability to extract the main article
  3. The extracted content is converted to Markdown format using Turndown
  4. The result is stored temporarily in your browser's session storage
  5. Session storage is automatically cleared when you close your browser

Permissions Explained

Clipwise AI requests the following permissions:

activeTab
Allows the extension to read the current page's content only when you click the extension icon. The extension cannot access any page without your explicit action.
storage
Used to temporarily store the converted Markdown in your browser's session storage. This data stays on your device and is cleared when you close your browser.
sidePanel
Enables the extension to display the converted Markdown in Chrome's built-in side panel interface.
scripting
Required to inject a small script that reads the page's HTML content when you click the extension icon.

Data Sharing

We do not share any data with third parties because we do not collect any data. The extension operates entirely offline and locally.

Third-Party Services

Clipwise AI does not integrate with any third-party services, analytics platforms, or tracking systems.

Data Security

Since all processing occurs locally within your browser and no data is transmitted externally, your content remains secure on your device.

Children's Privacy

Clipwise AI does not collect any data from any users, including children.
